Our close partnership working with placement providers ensures that our dental hygiene programme at Bangor University will prepare you to be a hygienist able to provide exemplary dental care. Delivering a high-quality student learning experience and research excellence, you’ll be educated by expert dental hygiene educators in an interdisciplinary environment.
You will learn through a mix of practical and theoretical education. Practical education is delivered in dedicated skills sessions and across a diverse placement schedule, including in primary and secondary care settings. Phantom head facilities are used to build your skills and confidence before embarking on your first practice placement. The programme is also linked with the North Wales Dental Academy to exemplify contemporary dental care delivery within the programme.
The programme draws on the vast experience in School of Medical and Health Sciences delivering clinically oriented health professional education. In this programme, specific elements are taught alongside other programmes, such as midwifery and nursing, giving you the opportunity to learn in an environment representative of the modern integrated healthcare workplace.
