Our School offers substantial opportunity regarding health and wellbeing, and this builds on our significant research and impact activity within the domain of prevention and early intervention, and clinical and educational application of language research, and our burgeoning translational neuroscience research theme. This, alongside the wellbeing and resilience interventions within our curriculum, places us as a hub of excellence regarding health and wellbeing. The research-led curricula of the School are informed, and delivered, by active researchers many of whom are members of the Institute for Wellbeing.
The BSc in Psychology with Clinical & Health Psychology is a popular degree as many psychology applicants and graduates are looking to pursue careers in Clinical Psychology. We aim to work with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme to develop pathways to Clinical Psychology, through both the BSc and our MSc in Clinical & Health Psychology, into Doctoral training.
During all of our BPS accredited undergraduate psychology degrees, students will undertake modules on Clinical Psychology, Applied Psychology and modules on Health psychology. At Level 6 of their undergraduate degrees, students can take undertake optional modules in mindfulness, . The School houses the internationally renowned Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice. In collaboration with The Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, we offer Masters level (level 7) degrees which can be studied part-time and are attractive to people already working in professional roles.
Additionally, we offer a pathway to career in Counselling, including an MSc in Counselling. Students who optionally take a Level 6 Counselling Skills module during their BSc with us, are automatically offered an interview if they apply to the MSc in Counselling programme.
