Supporting your studies
The Study Skills Centre works with students across all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate study and offers appointments for students wishing to discuss their writing and their approach to academic study. We also run a drop-in for anyone wishing to develop their maths and their handling of statistics.
Individual writing appointments
Our team of Study Advisers and Peer Writing Mentors are available on a bookable basis to discuss how you can get the most out of yourself as an academic writer. We work with students at all stages of the writing process, through from analysing task requirements and developing a draft, to revising and polishing the final work. If you find it difficult to get started with assignments, or feel that you need to work on structuring your writing or on making your words flow, then we are here to help.
Our Study Advisers are also available to discuss general issues such as time management, exams, presentations, and reading and research strategies.
Book online at http://studyskills.bangor.ac.uk/individual-appointment.php.en or by phone on 01248 382689.
Maths and stats drop-in
Our maths and stats drop-in is held during term-time on Tuesdays (1:30 pm to 4:30 pm) and on Wednesdays (10:30 am to 4:30 pm) in Deniol Library.
The drop-in enables you to explore any maths and stats difficulties that you may be experiencing, and to ask the kind of questions that you might be reluctant to ask of a course tutor. Support can be given with exercises, tutorial sheets or past examination papers, and with the use of statistical packages (Excel and SPSS). If you’re struggling to understand the mathematics, to formulate a hypothesis, to choose the correct statistical test, or to interpret the results of a computer generated output, pop along to see us.
