Overview
Module introduces and informs on several key elements of coaching, mentoring and assessment.
The Module addresses these key areas of study within each area several learning outcomes will be examined:
Explain the skills required to deliver coaching and mentoring support and how these activities can promote professional development
Explore how learning from coaching and mentoring sessions can be applied in the workplace
Examine the principles of work based assessment within policing
Understand the principles and practices of standardising assessment within the police service in order to ensure that consistent, professional standards are maintained
Assessment Strategy
-threshold -Acceptable work = Grades D+ to D- Limited discussion and commentary of relevant course material Very little critical analysis of relevant course material and police procedure as it relates to experiences in the workplace Limited but accurate use of citation and quotation
-good -Good work = Grades B+ to C- Some discussion and commentary of relevant course material Some critical analysis of relevant course material and police procedure as it relates to experiences in the workplace Use of relevant texts and academic literature (texts suggested in class) Accurate use of citation and quotation
-excellent -Excellent work = Grades A* to A- Significant discussion and commentary of relevant course material and academic literature. Significant critical analysis of relevant course material and police procedure as it relates to experiences in the workplace Use of relevant texts and academic literature (including the texts suggested in class + others students have found through independent study) Accurate use of citation and quotation
