-good -B- to B+ Grade: 60-69%To achieve a ‘good pass’ the student will be required to demonstrate sound knowledge and critical evaluation of the underlying principles of reflective practice and the professional, legal and ethical requirements of clinical practice. -excellent -A-to A* Grade: 70> To achieve an ‘excellent pass’ on the module, students will be required to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and critical evaluation of the underlying principles of reflective practice and the professional, legal and ethical requirements of clinical practice. -threshold-C- to C+ Grade: 50-59%To achieve a ‘pass’ on the module, students will be required to demonstrate good understanding and some critical evaluation of the underlying principles of reflective practice and the professional, legal and ethical requirements of clinical practice.
Learning Outcomes
- Critically analyse assessment theories, practice, and their relevance to mental health nursing.
- Critically evaluate and utilise theories of reflection to appraise how reflective practice contributes to professional development, and the attainment of theoretical knowledge.
- Critically evaluate principles of engagement and therapeutic relationships in the context of mental health nursing.
- Critically review the legal and ethical rights of people accessing mental health care system and their impact on clinical decision-making.
- Critically review the requirements of policy specifically in Wales, with cognisance to wider contexts, and their application to mental health nursing practice across the life span.

Essay 80% Title – A critical analysis of engagement and assessment in mental health A reflective critical analysis of engagement and assessment identified from practice placement experience. This assessment will require the student to define a topic question, conduct a literature search and provide a critical evaluation of the literature and evaluate the implications for practice 2,500 words LOs 2,3 & 5

Presentation 20% Title - A critical Incident analysis of engagement facilitating assessment The student will produce a presentation focusing on the relationship between engagement and assessment in mental health practice using Flannigan's CIA reflective model as their basis. The presentation will be presented to a small group of peers, academic staff, people with expertise by experience and clinical staff. LOs 1 & 4
