My current research project uses a Cognitive Linguistic approach to discourse analysis to investigate the language people use to talk about national identity. By analysing language patterns in elicited data on the subject of national identity, my hope to draw insights about how national identity is coneptualised and represented linguistically.
Previous projects include work on British values, extremism, Brexit, and national identity using metaphor analysis, discourse space theory and other construal operations identified in the Cognitive Linguistic Approach to Critical Discourse Studies.
I am on the executive committee of CADAAD (Critical Approaches to Discourse Analysis Across Cultures) as a PhD representative.
