Rhagolwg
Rwy'n Uwch Ddarlithydd (English Literature, Aston) ac Uwch Gymrawd Ymchwil (School of Educational Sciences, Bangor) er Anrhydedd ag arbenigedd ymchwil ar Shakespeare, yn y Deyrnas Unedig a thu hwnt. Yn 2021, cyhoeddodd Palgrave Shakespeare in East Asian Education, llyfr y bu i mi ei ysgrifennu ar y cyd gydag UCHIMARU Kohei, Adele LEE, a Rosalind FIELDING. Cyhoeddwyd fy monograff cyntaf, Shakespeare Valued, gan Intellect yn 2015. Mae manylion llawn fy nghyhoeddiadau ymchwil, gan gynnwys penodau llyfrau ac erthyglau, i'w gweld ar y wefan hon o dan y tabiau 'fy ymchwil' > 'allbynnau ymchwil'.
Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn addysgu llenyddiaethau, yn Saesneg neu wedi'u cyfieithu i’r iaith, yn Saesneg yn fwy cyffredinol, o ran polisi, addysgeg, a chynrychiolaeth o addysgu llenyddiaeth mewn diwylliant poblogaidd. Mae cwmpas fy niddordeb yn cynnwys addysgu llenyddiaethau mewn amgylcheddau Saesneg a thu hwnt. Yn 2022-23, fi oedd yr Athro Megumi ar Ymweliad yn Adran Saesneg Coleg Kobe, Japan. Mae gennyf ddiddordeb yn y pwnc am ei fod yn berthnasol i nifer o sectorau: ysgolion, addysg uwch, addysg bellach, adrannau addysg theatr a threftadaeth, diwydiannau creadigol eraill a'r cyfryngau.
Yn 2011, deuthum yn olygydd cyntaf Teaching Shakespeare y British Shakespeare Association, sef cylchgrawn traws-sector ar gyfer addysgwyr Shakespeare yn rhyngwladol. Goruchwyliais gyhoeddi 21 o gyfrolau sydd ar gael am ddim, gyda darllenwyr mewn dros 60 o wledydd, cyn ymgymryd â swydd Prif Olygydd y cyfnodolyn rhyngwladol a adolygir gan gymheiriaid Jeunesse: young people, texts, cultures yn 2021. Sefydlwyd a rhedwyd Jeunesse ym Mhrifysgol Winnipeg, Canada, cyn ymuno ag adran cyfnodolion mawreddog Gwasg Prifysgol Toronto ddiwedd 2021.
Mae fy ngolygyddiaeth o Jeunesse yn adlewyrchu, ac yn cyfrannu at, ddechrau ennill bri am ymchwil i lenyddiaeth a diwylliant oedolion ifanc, yn benodol y gothig. Mae gen i ddiddordeb arbennig mewn llenyddiaeth fampir cyfoes oedolion ifanc yn ail-greu gweithiau Shakespeare, yn enwedig ailadrodd Romeo a Juliet yn yr unfed ganrif ar hugain, a'i gynrychiolaeth o gydsyniad rhywiol a thrais mewn perthynas â gweithredu ffeministaidd ddiweddar yn rhyngwladol. Yn 2022, enillais Wobr Cyflymu Effaith i lunio podlediad dwyieithog ar ffuglen fampir oedolion ifanc, cydsyniad, trais rhywiol a thrais mewn perthynas (cadwch lygad yma am gysylltiadau i'r podlediad yn 2023).
Yr hyn sy'n uno fy niddordebau ymchwil amrywiol yn y Saesneg ac mewn Addysg yw bod fy fframweithiau damcaniaethol a chysyniadol, a'm dulliau ymchwil, yn tynnu'n gyson ar feirniadaeth lenyddol; theori feirniadol; astudiaethau diwylliannol; dadansoddiad llenyddol, cynnwys a disgwrs i ddadansoddi testunau a data ansoddol arall (trawsgrifiadau cyfweliad, deunydd ar wefannau cyfryngau cymdeithasol, a data arolwg, er enghraifft).
Yn 2018, ar y cyd â Dr Clémentine Beauvais, mi wnes i greu’r FutureLearn Pictures of Youth MOOC, cwrs ar-lein sydd ar gael am ddim, yn archwilio diwylliant gweledol plant mewn llyfrau lluniau, comics, teledu a ffilm. Cafwyd dros 15,000 o gyfranogwyr mewn pedair blynedd, gyda chyfradd dal gafael uwch na'r cyffredin. Rwyf hefyd yn mwynhau ymchwilio, addysgu a lledaenu fy ngwaith yn rhyngwladol, yn y cnawd, gyda phrofiad helaeth yn Nwyrain Asia.
Rwy'n Uwch Gymrawd Academi Addysg Uwch y Deyrnas Unedig (Advance HE bellach) gyda Thystysgrif Ôl-radd mewn Ymarfer Academaidd (PGCAP), cymhwyster addysgu mewn addysg uwch, o Brifysgol Efrog yn 2013. Rwy'n oruchwyliwr ymchwil profiadol (gweler yr adran Ôl-radd isod am restr o’m myfyrwyr PhD blaenorol a’m diddordebau goruchwylio). Dyfarnwyd statws goruchwyliwr ymchwil cydnabyddedig Cyngor Graddedigion y Deyrnas Unedig (UKGCE) i mi yn 2019.
Mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn goruchwylio doethuriaethau ar Shakespeare mewn Addysg yn y DU ac yn rhyngwladol, yn ogystal â dysgu llenyddiaeth yn fwy cyffredinol yn y DU a thu hwnt, yn y byd iaith Saesneg a thu hwnt. Mae gen i ddiddordeb yn y pynciau hyn o ran polisi, addysgeg, a sut y cânt eu cynrychioli mewn diwylliant poblogaidd ac ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol. Mae gen i ddiddordeb yn y pynciau hyn gan eu bod yn ymwneud ag amrywiol sectorau: ysgolion, addysg uwch, addysg bellach ac adrannau addysg theatr a threftadaeth. Fel ymchwilydd a phrif olygydd y cyfnodolyn a adolygir gan gymheiriaid Jeunesse: Young people, texts, cultures, mae gen i ddiddordeb mewn goruchwylio doethuriaethau ar lenyddiaeth plant, yn enwedig llenyddiaeth gothig i oedolion ifanc. Mae fy niddordeb mwyaf mewn goruchwylio projectau doethuriaeth lle mae'r fframweithiau damcaniaethol/cysyniadol a'r dulliau ymchwil yn tarddu o feirniadaeth lenyddol, theori feirniadol, astudiaethau diwylliannol, a dadansoddi llenyddiaeth, cynnwys a disgwrs. Sylwer: Nid yw'r rhain yn gyfleoedd PhD a ariennir.
Er mwyn rhoi syniad i ddarpar ymgeiswyr o'r mathau o brojectau doethuriaeth rwy'n eu goruchwylio, dyma rai o'r ymgeiswyr y bûm yn gweithio gyda nhw yn y gorffennol (ym Mhrifysgol Efrog): * Daniel XERRI. Goruchwyliwr arweiniol gyda Dr Nicholas McGuinn. Pasiwyd heb gywiriadau. Ionawr 2016. Barddoniaeth ym Malta. * Chelsea SELLARS. (née Swift). Goruchwyliwr. Pasiwyd gyda mân gywiriadau. Gorffennaf 2016. Hunaniaethau darllen plant yng Ngogledd Swydd Efrog. * Paulina BRONFMAN COLLOVATI. Prif oruchwyliwr gyda'r Athro Vanita Sundaram. Pasiwyd gyda mân gywiriadau. Defnyddio Shakespeare ar gyfer hawliau dynol yn y DU. Gorffennaf 2019. * Laura NICKLIN. Goruchwyliwr. Pasiwyd heb gywiriadau. Ionawr 2020. Defnyddio Shakespeare ar gyfer adsefydlu yn system garchardai’r Unol Daleithiau. * YING Zou. Prif oruchwyliwr gyda Dr Clémentine Beauvais. Pasiwyd gyda mân gywiriadau. Ebrill 2020. Defnydd rhieni Tsieineaidd o lyfrau lluniau Saesneg. *Hatice Herdili SAHIN. Prif oruchwyliwr gyda Kerry Knox. Pasiwyd gyda mân gywiriadau. Mehefin 2022. Addysgu’r Celfyddydau mewn ysgolion yn Nhwrci.

- BU-IIA Funded Project: Using popular fiction to positively impact young people about sexual and gendered violence
This impact project comes out of an underpinning research programme which explores popular Young Adult vampire fiction, such as Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, using textual studies approaches combined with feminist media effects theory, to consider Meyer’s representations of sexual and gendered violence in teenage romantic and/or sexual relationships. This project is underpinned by the power of fictional representations to positively impact readers’ lived experiences of being in relationships; to promote those that are consensual and non-violent; to positively influence readers’ deeply-ingrained attitudes, identities, behaviours and psychological work.
Funding awarded through the Bangor University Innovation and Impact Award (Research Wales Innovation Funding). Value = £19,861
