Addysgu ac Arolygiaeth
Mae fy addysgu'n olrhain prosesau ac arferion ffurfio polisi oddi fewn DU ddatganoledig gyda phwyslais arbennig ar iechyd yng Nghymru. Mae hefyd yn tynnu sylw at safbwyntiau amlddisgyblaeth i ddeall y profiad o gaethineb (at sylweddion neu ymddygiad) ac i alluogi myfyrwyr i ymgysylltu'n feirniadol â'r hyn y mae'n ei olygu i adfer neu wella o caethiwed
Llywodraethiant: Iechyd a Lles
Cyflwynwyd fy modiwl arloesol ar Lywodraethiant o fewn Iechyd a Lles yn 2016. Mae’r archwilio polisi ac ymarfer gan ganolbwyntio ar gysyniadau allweddol megis cyfrifoldeb, cymdeithas sifil, y "cafnu’r wladwriaeth", partneriaeth, cyfranogiad y cyhoedd, dyrchafu’r syniad o ‘”ddinasyddiaeth weithredol”(active citizenship) a defnyddio targedau a chymhellion i yrru ymddygiad ymarferwyr.
Y Corff Caeth/The Addicted Body –cyd-awdur gyda Dr. Paul Carre
Gan ddefnyddio damcaniaethau cyfoes ar Y Corff gan gynnwys ffenomenoleg a llywodraetholdeb (Governmentality), mae'r modiwl hwn yn archwilio ystod o gaethinebau (addictions). Mae'n ystyried y profiad o ymgorfforiad (embodiment) a rôl symbolaidd y corff yn y gymdeithas fel ffordd o drafod profiadau unigolion o gyflyrau mor amrywiol â chaethineb i gyffuriau neu alcohol, anorecsia neu gaethineb at y we (internet addication) a chaethineb rhyw, a’r rhesymau dros ymddangosiad y cyflyrau hynny. Mae hefyd yn cyflwyno ddealltwriaeth biofeddygol a bioseicogymdeithasol (biopsychosocial) o gaethineb ac adferiad. Gan ddefnyddio theori Boudiewsaidd a dulliau ethnograffig, mae’n cyflwyno cyd-destun diwylliannol a chymdeithasol ymddygiad caethiwus a'r amodau byw a greir trwy’r “fusnes cyffuriau” a’r ymyrraethau polisi a ddaw yn sgil hynny o fewn ardaloedd penodol.
Traethawd Hir (3ydd Blwyddyn) Cyd-lynydd Modiwl
Ar hyn o bryd mae pob fyfyriwr israddedig o fewn yr Ysgol Gwyddorau Cymdeithasol yn paratoi traethawd hir yn ystod blynyddoedd 2 a 3. Tra bod myfyriwr wedi eu paru â goruchwyliwr bydd yn cwrdd â hwy yn rheolaidd i gynnig cyngor ac adborth, mae dewis y pwnc yn agored a disgwylir i fyfyrwyr ddatblygu eu gwaith yn annibynnol i raddau helaeth. Fel cydlynydd modiwl ar gyfer y modiwl traethawd hir cyfrwng Cymraeg, rwy'n paratoi cyfres o weithdai gyda’r bwriad o addysgu myfyrwyr gyflawni ymchwil annibynnol. Cynnwys y rhain addysgu ar llunio a datblygu cwestiwn ymchwil, casglu a dadansoddi data a chynnig cyngor o ran paratoi'r drafft terfynol.
Prosiectau PhD
Mae fy mhrosiectau goruchwylio presennol yn cynnwys astudiaeth ethnograffig o anabledd a gwaith o fewn rhwydwaith teuluol (Williams), astudiaeth bywgraffyddol o hunaniaeth a’r cysyniad o ofal ‘person-ganolig’ ofewn sefyllfa deuluol, profiadau cleifion strôc sydd a’r Gymraeg fel iait gyntaf o ran triniaeth a chefnogaeth(ap Gruffydd) a chyd-destun diwylliannol dewisiadau cerddoriaeth poblogaidd ymysg dwy genhedlaeth yng Ngwynedd (ap Rhisiart).
Diddordebau Ymchwil
Mae gennyf ddiddordeb hirdymor yng nghyd-destun diwylliannol a chymdeithasol y penderfyniadau a wneir gan unigolion o fewn Iechyd a Lles. Dyddia hyn yn ôl degwadau i fy nhraethawd hir MSc. ar hanesion menywod Somali o fewn gwasanaethau mamolaeth (gweler y rhestr gyhoeddiadau). Yn fwy diweddar, rwyf wedi defnyddio fframwaith Bourdieusaidd i ddeall dewisiadau megis brechu a phenderfyniadau o ran iechyd rhyw (gweler hefyd oruchwyliaethau). Mae gennyf ddiddordeb yn y profiad o 'fyw polisi' er enghraifft ymhlith y rheiny sy'n derbyn budd-daliadau (o wahanol fathau) lles, ymysg mamau ifanc a mamau fel phenderfynwyr gofal ac iechyd plant (gweler prosiectau ymchwil cyfredol). Rwyf hefyd yn cyfrannu at waith cydweithredol sy'n asesu sut mae llywodraethau yn lleoli eu hunain o ran syniadau megis cyfrifoldeb torfol ac unigol, cydraddoldeb, hawliau a ‘gwerth am arian’ trwy ddadansoddiad discwrs o ddogfennau polisi allweddol.

Gweithgaredd: Cymryd rhan mewn gweithdy, seminar, cwrs Academaidd (Siaradwr) - The future of enhancement in partnerships: ways forward from across the UK.
Expectations on Higher Education providers to monitor their enhancement and compliance activities are diverging across the UK with major implications for the management of partnerships. The Office for Students has consulted on minimum standards and proposes new quality definitions to replace the UK Quality Code. No such changes will be mandatory in Scotland and Wales where it is likely that institutions will continue to work to a more wide-ranging enhancement approach.
Speakers from across the UK will outline models for monitoring enhancement within and across partnerships and provide expect perspectives on the future of enhancement. They will also consider implications for a single UK-HE brand in transnational education.

Academic quality enhancement in TNE – present and future
The University of Sunderland has for many years successfully used adaptable franchise models for TNE, involving close cooperation between on-campus and partner-based academics and an overall approach closely aligned to the QAA Quality Code. This talk will explore how these existing approaches to quality monitoring, support and partner engagement are being rethought in response to radical changes proposed by the English regulator, the Office for Students.
2.30 pm
Prof Oliver Turnbull, DVC Bangor University
Learning from our mistakes: an enhancement approach from Wales
Setting up and maintaining partnerships is a complex and challenging exercise. This talk offers five pieces of hard-won advice, with particular reference to the Welsh sector and TNE. We’ve made the mistakes, so you don’t have to! The suggestions reflect some advice about: setting up good systems at the initial phases; assigning manageable tasks to responsible people; building in good governance; taking advantage of what might be described as ‘Celtic’ approaches to regulation; and finally, the advantages of Celtic approaches to quality enhancement. Partnerships can be a difficult to set up and maintain, but can also be rewarding, and the talk ends with a brief list of the positives, for both staff and students.
