Overview

This comprehensive module offers students the chance to develop a sound understanding of sustainable finance, environmental, social and governance (ESG), climate risk, regulation and their implications for financial institutions. This module aims to present global perspectives and case studies on the financial services sector and how it is responding to this challenge. Sustainability is beginning to reach the mainstream of the financial services sector. This module provides a comprehensive treatment of the rapid transformation of the financial sector and will be useful to students considering how sustainability may be achieved.

The module may cover but will not be limited to the following themes: Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Ecosystem; The Market of ESG Investing; ESG Risks; Sustainable Financial Products; Fundamentals of Sustainable Banking; Impact Investing; Banking and Climate Change; Green Washing; New Sustainable Banking Models and Strategies; Governance and Risk Management in Sustainable Banking; Green Financial Regulation; Sustainable Banking in Practice.

Assessment Strategy

-threshold -D- to D+ (40-49%): No major omissions or inaccuracies in the deployment of information/skills. Some grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Integration of theory/practice/information present intermittently in pursuit of the assessed work's objectives.

-satisfactory-C- to C+ (50-59%): Much of the relevant information and skills mostly accurately deployed. Adequate grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Fair integration of theory/practice/information in the pursuit of the assessed work's objectives. Some evidence of the use of creative and reflective skills.

-good -B- to B+ (60-69%): Very good performance Most of the relevant information accurately deployed. Good grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practical elements. Good integration of theory/practice/information in pursuit of the assessed work's objectives. Evidence of the use of creative and reflective skills.

-excellent -A- to A* (70%+): Outstanding Performance. The relevant information accurately deployed. Excellent grasp of theoretical/conceptual/practice elements.
