The International Mentor Scheme
I wanted to become a mentor to strengthen ties between different international students so they have a better experience at Bangor. I am also interested in building the image of Bangor University here at home and even globally while interacting with different students.
Why Bangor
I chose Bangor University because it is one of the leading institutions globally with excellent teaching in Agroforestry. As an agroforestry student, this was very key to me because I understood my degree would stand out having learnt from this institution. Together with their partnership with ICRAF, where I intend to start my internship I found myself fully in love with this university.
Most beautiful thing about being an International Student at Bangor University
The most important thing to me is the kind of interaction and friendship I have made so far. Being an international student, I have learnt to interact with different people with various cultures and personalities. This has built my character and sharpened me to be a leader.
The most difficult thing about being an International Student
Initially, with my first module the transition to the British system of learning was not smooth. However, I have adjusted accordingley and everything is now running smoothly to me.
Clubs and Societies
I am a member of the Church Youth Society and participate in voluntary services such as street and river cleaning which happen most of the time here in Kenya.
What social activities do you enjoy
I like volunteering together as a group and I also like giving motivational talks to secondary students, these are the activities that have really humbled me.
Advice for new International students
Bangor University is good with excellent teaching staff. They are in the right place and their successful academic life has just begun. At Bangor University, people are welcoming and always ready to listen to your needs. I love this university and will forever be indebted to it.
